PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
- Coupling photoinduced crosslinking processes and electrospinning in order to fabricate nanofibres with optimized chemical and mechanical resistance.
- Preparation of fibrous nanomembranes for water/oil separation.
- Characterisation of the materials by physico-chemical and mechanical testing. Gas permability analysis.
- Modeling of the electrospinning process and modeling of the photoprocesses with the constrains of the special geometry of nanofibres.
EXPECTED RESULTS:
- Obtaining of fibers with the desired morphology and preparation of membranes with tuned porosity and surface properties.
- Performance of the membranes in filtration processes.
- Modeling.
- Trained researcher expert in electrospinning, with skills in modeling, acquired also during secondments.
PLANNED SECONDMENTS:
- Host 1: Imperial (IT), supervisor: J.Cabral, timing: month 31, length: 6 months. Purpose: experimental validation of theoretical models for photoinduced frontal polymerisation.
- Host 2: CTP (F), supervisor E.Zeno timing: month 38, length: 3 months. Purpose: experimental characterisation of fibrous membranes.
*Enrolment in Doctoral degree: at POLITO, in Materials Science and Technology. Prof. R.Bongiovanni will act as supervisor.
