PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
- Introduction of photoreversible functions in biobased precursors and naturally sourced fillers (also during academic secondment).
- Preparation of composites that can be crosslinked upon exposure to a specific wavelength and decrosslinked upon exposure to a different wavelength or thermally.
- Full characterisation of the photoreversible polymers and composites.
- Obtaining of at least one reversibly photocrosslinked composite that is more sustainable than the selected benchmark, with comparable performances.
EXPECTED RESULTS:
- Protocol for the synthesis of biobased precursors modified with photoreversible functions, and their photocrosslinking for composite matrices.
- Protocol for the preparation and characterisation of modified fillers and composites.
- Setting of an appropriate sustainability metrics and sustainability assessment of the selected photoreversible composite.
- Trained researcher expert on synthesis and characterization of photoreversible polymers, their use as matrix for composite films, also acquired during secondments.
PLANNED SECONDMENTS:
- Host 1: PCCL (AT), supervisor: S. Schlögl, timing: month 19, length: 6 months. Purpose: synthesis and characterisation of photoreversible precursors.
- Host 2: CTP (FR), supervisor: E. Zeno, timing: month 32, length: 3 months, Purpose: Synthesis of cellulosic precursors and fillers.
*Enrolment in Doctoral degree: at POLITO in Materials Science and Technology. Dr. S. Dalle Vacche will act as supervisor.
